So that Hurricanes offer sheet to Kotkaniemi is hilarious, with the Canes Twitter account trolling, etc. But Waddell is going to have to eat his shirt because Bergevin is not going to match the offer, and he'll be over cap. Bergevin has paid too much money for players three times: Carey Price, PK Subban, and Karl Azner. Price is debatable but he still delivers top value when it counts. PK was used to get Shea Weber. Karl Azner was bought out. Since then, Bergevin has not made lopsided offers to any player that would upset his roster. Maybe the offer to Danault was a bit much, but he's a francophone so he had more value in Montréal, and we saw that Bergevin was not going to go further than that. So there's no way he matches the offer to KK. If this was a player like Suzuki or Caufield he'd match, but KK just hasn't proven his value/hasn't been developed properly.

It sucks because I liked the guy, he seemed like a good kid! Now he'll never play in Montréal again.
