I was surprised (well, not really surprised, but not happy) about:
(a) violent people (I know this is common in anonymous arenas like the internet, where you can get off on telling people you're going to kill their parents, etc, but still, not cool.)
(b) "no one is innocent thus we shouldn't even pretend to uphold laws/rules" philosophy. What, like everyone steals now and then, so it shouldn't be against the law? funnily enough, people holding on to the "don't get her in trouble, you wouldn't like it if YOU got in trouble" view were also quite likely to add "and I hope she sues you!" Hey, where did "do unto others" go?
Weird, Boing Boing says it's a hoax... then says maybe not:
Update: It's an April Fool's Day hoax. Shannon sez, "the student doesn't exist, that school is a Christian school (that doesn't teach a course on Hinduism), and it's hosted on a comedy troupe's site that's trying to promote it's new show, and their webmaster is spamming blogs with their story under a variety of fake names."
Update 2: The people who posted this deny that it's a hoax, deny the spamming. You decide.
Yeah, I find hard their certainty when they say "the student doesn't exist". Like, what, all schools publish their student population data freely on the web? Not likely.
His follow-up story is pretty convoluted though.
Either way, whether it's true or not, it's believeable... That's enough to be entertaining.
argh!!
