Single vote spared Moussaoui death

So it turns out a single person prevented the creation of a martyr.

What do you make of this? Do you think Moussaoui would have become a martyr? I have a feeling that in some small circles he may have, but I dont think that it was as big a threat as some people made it out to be. Having said that I dont think anyone should receive a death penalty.

I think that anyone who reads about the conditions he will spend the rest of his life in will be frankly deterred from getting caught alive. It's basically going to be social insulation for the rest of his life. Now that's true torture. I've always been against the death penalty, but I'm looking at his conditions and I'm thinking if keeping someone alive in inhumane conditions is any better.

Yeah, well I didnt expect much more from the American state. Imagine what they are doingt to people at Gitmo where there is no real possibility for inspection. I mean at least people have some idea of what is happening to him. Although, the fact that he is a celebrator of Sept. 11 doesnt help a human rights complaint. I think that the interesting thing is that he is becoming a scapegoat for the failures of the American government and the security intelligence agencies in preventing Sept. 11. I mean it seems like the 9/11 commission report has been shelved so quickly that it is still fresh in its wrapper!
