So I finished polishing off some beers with my cousin, and with a Québécois actor and Palestinian guy that joined us more or less randomly, and then I decided to take the streetcar home. However, between finishing the beers and waiting a few minutes for the street car, I saw some 8 fire trucks rush by on King Street, and then just turn around the block. Always curious for some action, I decided to walk where the trucks where.

There were SO MANY trucks! I couldn't get too close to the fire since a cop stopped me from doing so, but it seemed to be a house fire, if a big one. Well, at that point I counted 19 trucks from the fire department, and only 4 or 5 of them not fire trucks per say. One of the latter was Fire Command, a large HQ-on-wheels Winnebago type thing.

As I wait for the street car, 20 minutes after seeing the first truck, the 20th truck arrives there, sirens blaring, acting as if there's some sort of emergency. Well, I guess there was, but considering that there was already more than amply enough firefighters and trucks to deal with the accident, they could have kept the racket down. Then after I hopped on the streetcar, as I'm discussing with the driver about this madness, the 21st truck comes blaring by.

I'm angry because my apartment is at a busy intersection, and with our windows open all summer to cool down the apartment, we hear a LOT of emergency vehicle sirens at night, waking us up and stuff. You kinda get used to it, but you know, not quite. So I don't mind if they actually have an emergency to respond to, but if they're just going to check out the cool fire because they're curious and their bros are handling it already, please, stop the noise ejaculation over my neighbourhood, it's sticky and it stinks.

Bwah.

That was a laugh of sympathy, not of mockery. Been there, kept up all night by that.

One thing I can say for my insanely hot apartment is that I don't get much street noise.

Dude, we're going to pleasure dome tonight, if you don't know it, it's an ongoing series of experimental films that firoza just got on the board for, it's pretty exciting half the time and the other half I don't care about, but you never know which one it is :]

Tonight's screening: http://pdome.org/june10_05.html

They usually have beer at CineCycle when they're having it there, but the silly punks got the place busted by the cops last week so I don't know if Martin (the awesome owner of CineCycle) won't be coming down hard on that kind of stuff. If you can't/won't come tonight, I can keep posted on future screenings, or you can

...I was gonna say you can join the mailing list, then I checked out, they don't have one, but I pressed the Post button before tying my loose ends. Doh.
