Reverse Racism
It will be reverse racism
when you go home crying about your face
when your mom proudly shows off your darker brother to the neighbors
when you put on darkening cream and chemically nap up your hair
when you dream of being the different looking dolls you play with
when you can't speak your language
when you'd rather marry up than marry your own
It will be reverse racism
when you have a few hundred years of history of it
when you can't get recognition, justice, or even an apology for those few hundred years
when you wonder if the homeland you weren't born in is a better place
when you have to worry about being beaten, lynched, raped, disappeared and forgotten... by both police and your own people
when you tell your children that they have to live with this for everyday of their lives
when you stop caring whether it was unintentional ignorance or deliberate maliciousness
when you have to constantly fight to not have people tell you who they think you are
when you get too tired to fight, and just accept their chains of stereotypes
It will be reverse racism
when losing is a way of life
when you wonder how long until your rights are protected
when you wonder how long until your rights are revoked
when video evidence produces no justice
when you cannot find heroes, only martyrs
So tell me again about the job you MIGHT lose.
