So I forgot that this was a mug we had bought from an artist on the street. I put it in the microwave to warm up my tea, then went to grab the cup, and.... OWWWW. A really deep burn on the side of my index finger from superheated pottery. Thankfully the affected area is about 4mm² so rather contained. I applied lukewarm then cold water, and then ice when I got bored.

So ioplokon, what can you say about what makes pottery potentially superhot when microwaved versus not?
