This tendency would make a lot of people on postcardx happy. I would do it more myself, but get charged so inconsistently for postal service that I don't know what I'm supposed to pay without being told by someone behind a desk.
Really? Since I got myself a cheap plastic scale (that I had bought in some Chinese bric-à-brac shop on Keefer, incidentally) and started using the postage charts on canadapost.ca, I never got any mail returned for insufficient postage, unless I had tried to cheat the chart and went too far. I even measure postage for my packages myself, specifically because I want to be able to send those massively stamp-covered enveloppes. So much better than this bland sticker with a price on it.
Also, while the staff at my local post office is nice, the long line-ups really get on my nerves.
I think next time someone asks me for a gift, I'll ask them for a digital scale. That'd be good. No more lines to decipher on the plastic scale.
I always feel like I've fulfilled my philatelic duties when I cover an enveloppe like this...
