Zine fairing

frandroidI was tabling at the new Paperjam zine fair put on this weekend by the Toronto Zine Library. It was a decent fair. I tried to help postering and either they handled it all themselves or didn't do much, because I never got a callback. Anyway. I wasn't really out on the streets so I couldn't gauge the effort. Met a few people I knew but not too many.
One of the things I like about tabling at fairs is the people watching... Zine fairs that aren't anarchist are more about style than people watching per se, people putting on wacky t-shirt and stuff but necessarily dressing up per se? The hotness factor is not there like at anarchist book fairs. I make a point of remarking on people's nice clothes.
Anyway at some point this Amy Winehouse-type goth woman came by my table and was excited by some of my older zines, which is always fun. She was kind of 1.25x Winehouse's size, kind of a taller and bigger version (i.e. not heroin skinny...), which an amusing thought. Winehouse is not quite my type but somehow I got immediately smitten by this person. She bought a zine then she moved on, and I didn't see her again.
