"In no uncertain terms, education in the humanities – often believed to be the most powerful weapon against imperialism – is being appropriated as a powerful vehicle for imperialism."

but people aren't cyborgs - at some point, this can't be as tuff as it sounds, although this essay is indeed totally "whoah"..it never works as smoothly as all that. totally fucked up about going through walls. then the alleys are ours. i mean maybe if that was their stradegy, in populated dense third world places, people could run outside - after they heard their explosions somewhere - and turn this stradegy on them. but that couldn't be that easy either.

wow, I feel pretty sad though. I myself, have been thinking along city architecture ideas (reading some lebevre) for a conference coming up, how much space does matter, but aplying it to like ....childcare.

The thing though, the Palestinian territories are densely populated... The Gaza Strip in particular is said to be the most densely populated place in the world right now. The IDF is "walking through walls" in a way because there is almost nowhere else to go. But it's more than that...

As for the alleys, I think military forces can already dominate there; what they do by walking through walls is reconfigure the battlefield to introduce the unexpected, reappropriate the expected battlefield configuration that the resistance knows and make it their own.

This is the real shock and awe for me...

Uh, they are "walking through walls" because that's been a pretty standard tactic in urban warfare since WW2?

Critical theory didn't tell them to do it, Stalingrad did.

Alright. They're still reading Deleuze, though, which astounds me. :P
