it's cold here
Aug. 26th, 2024 08:21 pmI was assuming that it was unseasonably cold everywhere within 5 hours flight, but I guess it's not, after having read
frenzy's latest entry. So we basically have had a 2-week "cold" wave here. It's normal for evenings being chilly in August here, requiring long sleeves after sundown, but we've had a number of days where the temperature dipped under 20°C (68°F for the football fields and bananas measurement system crowd) many days in a row... The last 4-5 days have been at that nice perfect 24°C daytime temp, but then it gets cool fast. My sister complained that our apartment was warm when she stayed here in early August, but basically we have ceiling fans in the dining room and the bedroom, and it's just not hot enough to require A/C here anymore. It would be nice to have A/C, and I will get the window unit sitting in my living room installed Real Soon Now (I've been saying that for 2 years). But frankly, in the last 10 years, since we stopped getting smog from the largest coal-fired power plant in North America, we've been having remarkably mild summers. I really think it's the most comfortable year-round climate on the continent.
