Sep. 7th, 2004 12:11 amSo I'm reading this conspiracy zine trying to debunk lots of stuff about AIDS. After delinking HIV from AIDS, we move on to this:
"AIDS does not behave like other infectious diseases; different risk groups have different symptoms. Diseases are predictable and have specific symptoms while AIDS is 85% male (54% queer male). Diseases and viruses are generally random between the sexes. AIDS does not spread among healthcare workers like other diseases. And despite what the media has been telling us, unlike all other diseases, AIDS has been in steady decline among risk groups since 1993."
Do these people KNOW that AIDS is a fucking STD?!? Wouldn't the fact that healthcare workers usually don't fuck their patients like bunnies have ANYTHING to do with the fact that they don't catch the disease, and that even if they did, they would be quite likely to use protection, being that they're on the front lines of fighting against spreading diseases and usually have a clue or two about such things?
Also, since Harvey Milk was gay AND outspoken, he would SURELY have questioned the government line on AIDS, and somehow, this would be enough of a threat to get Dan White to kill him. His killing is thus STRANGELY COINCIDENTAL with... Oops, "AIDS" doesn't exist as a disease yet! There's no coincidence to be had!! The Hep. B vaccine trials in NYC (note: NOT San Francisco, where Milk was living) had just started, but it'll be years before anyone knows anything about them and their relationship to AIDS!
The creation of AIDS as a disease (if you have a low t-cell blood count now, according to the CDC, you have AIDS, no matter what the reason is) is full of suspicious characters and may involve biological warfare research, but this is not a reason to write sloppily about it, reality is scary enough without having to embellish it.
Nevertheless, I'll sell this zine because it's got lots of good stuff. However I'm missing the Maximum Rock n Roll reprint of a radio interview Dave Emory did with one of the major debunkers of AIDS... Now that was much more solid, I believe, and it had great graphics to boot!
