random covid notes
Oct. 28th, 2020 03:23 pmWas reading a Twitter thread about how Québec (pop: 8.5M) has plateau'd at 1,000 cases per day, which, nice to plateau, sucks to have this many cases (currently at 180% of Ontario's cases, was at 300-400% for weeks, basically until Ontario caught up to 900+/day (pop: 14M, for the non-locals) last week.
Then someone chimed in: Belgium, (11.5M pop) has had three separate days of 15,000 cases this week! I'm not expecting much out of the U.S. but I was expecting better from a European country... Oww. It's possible that Belgium tests more but still. We're doing... Pretty decent?
There was a report on CBC last night comparing Windsor to Detroit: 3000 vs 180,000 total cases since the pandemic started. That's nuts.
B.C. still doesn't have mandatory indoor masking in public places and their cases are spiralling up.
