"What is remarkable in the case of China is that the civilization created several millenia ago continued into the early twentieth century, while the other great civilizations experienced radical discontinuities."

There's still a great lack of such radical continuities... Although there has definately been a lot in the last 30 years.

Um... radical continuities? Shouldn't that say radical discontinuities? The sentence starts out by explaining how China's civilization was continuous, after all. Or is there a difference between 'continued' and 'radical continuity' I'm not getting?
