out of control

Attended the coöp's Grounds Committee meeting tonight. (My first in-person, post-lockdown meeting about anything I think! I and one other person were masked. Actually, I was going to stay unmasked until I saw her. Why am I so insecure?) A no-nonsense meeting––a rarity! After the meeting, I went to the garden and collected some of the arugula from our out of control bush, then took basil from a couple of neighbours' gardens. Then I came up home, had a fight with F and made pesto for Thursday's pasta.

I just realized that I missed comrade's online Canadian Politics course, which I intended to attend. This was week 3. Or 4? Damn it. I need to put it in my calendar. Funny idea, putting a course in my calendar. Anyway, now I have ANOTHER book to catch up on.

excerpts from school

"What is remarkable in the case of China is that the civilization created several millenia ago continued into the early twentieth century, while the other great civilizations experienced radical discontinuities."

Holy shit. China really fucked the dog around the world between 1949/75.
