White Man on the Moon

Alright, so Obama cancels Bush's Moon Mission Mark II. But instead of actually saving gadzillions of badly needed dollars, he puts the money towards more exploration.

It's not because there is no song titled "Black President on Mars" that that makes it any more right...

Heh. "Blackie's on Mars" has a ring to it.

badly needed by whom? i have to grudgingly admit that obama's plan makes more sense than sinking several billion dollars into a fairly useless gravity well for nostalgia's sake, but i don't see why we can't do both. in a country with an operating budget of several trillion dollars i don't see why we should settle for less than several hundred billion at least - AT LEAST - being spent on research and development of spacefaring technology. to do anything less is irresponsible.

It's worse: The details suggest that the budget plan is not only to expand space exploration, but privatize it, with NASA paying private space flight firms (that have largely failed to get off the ground, literally, so far) for tickets to outer space. Space flight is important for certain types of scientific investigation, but this is not the way to do it, or to pay for it.
