Am I the only one who's fucking scared by the Support Our Troops rally with all the neatly printed signs and Harper coming out and shit?  And how HOC staff are supposed to be non-partisan but Peter what's-his-face-lord-of-the-commons allowed them to wear red ribbons because support-our-troops is a non-partisan agenda, not at all a conservative demagogic device meant to silence war critics, right?

At this point I think that Layton is mostly a rotten liberal, when not actively conservative (see gun crime moves during the election; see Layton to support raising the age of consent; see almost complete abdication on the childcare issue, something that they had the Liberals on board to fight with), but his now loud opposition opposition to the Afghan War makes me feel warm inside.

Also the words I've heard flying about trying to bring the 3 strike rule in to the justice system in Canada fucking scares me.

because as we know, crime has gone dramatically down in california since the advent of 3-strikes and you're out! it's proven to work. right?

At the risk of sounding loopy or way creepy, I saw your comment in the Yorku comm., thought the screenname sounded familiar and realized I've been ordering zines from your distro for ages. Really small world I suppose. I figured I'd leave a comment here rather than annoy the anal-retentive psych girl by not lavishing her more attention. Anyway - keep up the good work!

Awesome! I already thought that by your picture you looked a bit "indie" :) Thanks for the support. Next time you want to put in an order, we can meet at school and avoid postage fees. :]

I've friended you.

Oh yeah, I'll be running a zine workshop soon through OPIRG, so if you're interested, give me your email and I'll add you to the list.

Oh yeah, I'm already on the listserve. I was actually just talking to Broden about working on a zine/book library since I have some stock left over from my former distro. We haven't met up yet but hopefully this week. I'd be pretty interested in helping out if OPIRG does skillshares/workshops often.

Anyway - take care!

I especially love how Layton tries to sound all brusque and Scottish to appeal to the grannies.

Did I hear that his Afghanistan motion was designed to outmaneuver a more radical one from the floor? Wouldn't surprise me.

So much for voting! Who knew ;)

Well as per the article in my original post, just trying to avoid being told by the party what to do was enough for his to try to rush forward...
