Bolivia Joins DOPEC [via [livejournal.com profile] theonionfeed]

LA PAZ, BOLIVIA—The South American nation of Bolivia was inducted into the Development Organization of Powder-Exporting Countries Monday. "As the world's third-largest producer of coca, we are pleased to join Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and other proud nations in economic partnership," said Sonia Atala, Bolivia's minister of opiates. "Only by working together can we assure ourselves of continued expansion into foreign markets." The move was opposed by the U.S., DOPEC's largest customer, on the grounds that further price increases and supply restriction would create long lines at dealerships.

And here I saw "from 1 to 7pm" in your LJ and I thought you knew what you were talking about, sending me in a speculative frenzy ;]

In past years it's been 12-6 for the public, and tablers are told to arrive at 11pm or so, but the doors really open around 8 or 9am for volunteers to come and help set the place up, so really you can come any time, but I wouldn't arrive late.

A benefit of arriving early is that you can surreptitiously swap your table with one in a better location, or swap it so that you can sit by a friend's table.

Oh, it does seem to be from 1 to 7. Weird. At least it's not from 10-5 like the bloody anarchist bookfair this year. Although, I would take that over no anarchist bookfair, like this year. Sigh.

i asked at the front desk of the gladstone (i was in the neighborhood), and the clerk said 9 am is the earliest you can come.... i think i showed up 11ish last year, and was fine.

the 1-7 is the 'open to the public' time that broken pencil is giving.

see you tomorrow!
