I got a Bixi membership. (Bixi is the name of the company that used to run our local Bike share scheme, which eventually flunked out and was bought back and renamed Bike Share Toronto by the city, which doesn't sound as sexi.) That's after bike thieves tried and failed to steal my back wheel (to fit onto another stolen bike that they eventually left by our bike rack) and succeeded in stealing my handlebars (!!!). I'm going to buy a new bike eventually, but for now I've decided to go with the Bixi. On top of it being a heavy and clunky bike, I have legs of lead and riding just 5 minutes already causes pain. Damn. I need to get in shape again.
We've also been looking at EVs to replace my dead car but prices for new vehicules are nuts (especially since Doug Ford cancelled the Ontario rebate, mothertrucker), buying used doesn't make sense because of the limited choice/quality on the market and declining battery range over time. Also we can't charge at home, which is another issue.
