When I read that title I thought he was going to talk about the inevitable retribution from Earth that comes months or years later -- where the departing fleet drops an asteroid on the planet, then the next round of people strip-mines at will once everything is good and dead.

Me too (and I suppose he alludes to it at the beginning). But the article makes a more important point.

It's hilarious that we now have an Ontario high school course in genocide that does not mention the genocide against indigenous people in North America. And by hilarious I mean skin-crawlingly awful.

I like to think so, but I can't see many doing it at (for example) my school. Some of the teachers, maybe, but if no one's ever given a kid a realistic account of Canadian history and they're not getting information from elsewhere, it's pretty unlikely that they'd challenge the curriculum that way.
