Something tells me their calculations don't take PPP into account.

So a quick scan of the last paper listed suggests they have left out data from several wealthy countries (Spain, the Gulf, Libya), used outdated population figures (the world has 10% more people now), and based calculations of old income data (income figures from 1988 and 1933, measured in 2000 dollars; I need hardly tell you how many Indians and Chinese citizens have become richer since then). Also, while these folks use PPP calculations for income projections, they don't ask you to enter where you live, meaning your own income hasn't been adjusted.

All in all, it's a neat idea, but I wouldn't take the numbers too seriously. (Also, I'm getting better at figuring out how to discredit anyone I want to disagree with, yay!)

Yup, they should definitely take into account the local cost of living. I'd be filthy rich in many countries, but not in Vancouver.

Well, let's see, when I enter last year's income I come in in the top 15%.
