The diversity of species in the world's oceans is being so severely depleted that most stocks will collapse within decades while the water itself grows sicker[.]

...species are disappearing at such a rapid rate that all wild seafood could collapse by 2048.

"If we don't change the way we do things, we will literally run out of species in our lifetimes"

THIS is what I'm refering about when I'm saying that the ban on horse slaughter doesn't really matter.

"We really see the end of the line now. . . . Our children will see a world without seafood if we don't change things."

People need to get over the fish farming fear, because that isn't helping matters. The toxicity of it isn't much worse than anything else, like beef has way more dioxins than any salmon can possibly have...

I eat it many times a month with no trouble.

I think people should switch to vegetarianism while we fix our ecosystems and find a way to make meat-eating sustainable for 6 billion humans. And we should definitely put a check on population growth. All hail the Chinese!

Not going to happen any time soon. People can easily change their habbits though, really it's not hard to eat beef (MUCH)less than 3 times a day... XD

but yeh, anyway... how much of these "impressive doomsday models" do you buy into? You know like.. most of them are worst case scenarios, to make a point.

Like population growth for instance, some models have us evening out at 8 billion or so. It's not as cool looking as the doomsday figures but takes more into account.

I buy that ecological devastation will have serious, life altering, life threatening impact on over a billion people during our lifetime. That's the best case scenario. I'll let you imagine the worst case scenarios.
